PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) Friday issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on the contempt petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and sought its response.
During the hearing at PHC, Advocate Qazi Anwar and Shah Faisal Ilyas appeared in court.
PTI’s legal representatives argued that the PHC had previously directed the Election Commission to publish PTI’s certificate on their website. However, as of now, neither has the election symbol certificate been issued to PTI nor has the Election Commission published the certificate on their website.
In response to PTI’s request, the Peshawar High Court issued a notice to the Election Commission and sought their response.
It’s worth noting that PTI had filed a contempt of court petition in the Peshawar High Court against the Election Commission regarding intra-party elections and the non-issuance of their election symbol ‘bat’. PTI contends that despite the court’s order, the Election Commission has not released PTI’s certificate on their website.
