Peshawar police have barred their officers and personnel from participating in, assisting, or facilitating any political march, rally, or procession. The directive also prohibits the use of government resources, vehicles, machinery, and equipment for political purposes.
According to an official notification issued by police authorities, the instructions were drawn up in light of a decision handed down by the Islamabad High Court. The notice makes clear that no police officer or official is permitted to join, support, or assist any march, rally, or procession in any capacity.
Government Resources Off-Limits for Political Activities
The notification further states that departmental resources, official vehicles, machinery, and other government equipment cannot be deployed for any political march or gathering. This restriction is meant to draw a firm line between police duties and political activity, ensuring official assets are not misused for partisan purposes.
Police personnel have also been instructed that they must not be pressured, coerced, or provoked into participating in any march or procession. Should any officer or official come under pressure or influence from a political leader or public representative, they have been directed to immediately report the matter to their senior officers.
The notification instructs police officials to ensure strict compliance with these directives. Any officer or personnel found violating the rules will face departmental action under existing regulations, and the notice warns that serious violations could result in dismissal from service.
