PESHAWAR: Protests are underway in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the Meteorological Department forecasts a temperature rise to 42 degrees Celsius within the next 24 hours.
According to reports, protesters led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Fazal Elahi gathered outside the Rehman Baba Grid Station in Peshawar, which has been shut down. The protesters have threatened to take control of the grid station if the load shedding continues. PTI leader Fazal Elahi also threatened to close the Hazar Khawani Grid Station, which would impact electricity supply to Islamabad.
Fazal Elahi emphasized that the continued closure of the Hazar Khawani Grid Station would disrupt electricity in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecasted hot and dry weather for Peshawar, with air humidity recorded at 27 percent. The current temperature in Peshawar is 23 degrees Celsius, with expectations that it will rise to 42 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours.
Additionally, the Met Department reported that the highest temperature recorded was 45 degrees Celsius in Dera Ismail Khan, and predicted thundershowers in Kohistan, Dir, and Swat.
