The Peshawar High Court recently held a hearing concerning petitions filed for the cancellation of anti-corruption FIRs. The court examined cases brought forth by former Deputy Speaker Mehmood John, Timur Salim Jhagra, and Muhammad Ishtiaq. Their legal counsel appeared in court, requesting the cancellation of the charges against them.
During the proceedings, the Chief Justice noted a significant delay in the process. He pointed out that the anti-corruption challan had not been submitted after eight months since the FIR was filed. In light of this, the court ordered the Anti-Corruption Department to submit the trial challan within fifteen days.
Furthermore, the Chief Justice instructed that any application to cancel the lawsuit should be referred to the appropriate court. This ruling reflects the court’s commitment to ensuring a timely and fair judicial process in corruption cases.
