PIA plane with 47 passengers on-board crashes in Abbottabad

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad-bound flight of Pakistan International Airline (PIA), carrying 47 passengers was crashed in Majab area of Havelian, Abbottabad here on Wednesday evening.
PIA ATR aircraft PK-661 from Chitral was scheduled to land at Islamabad airport at 05:30pm. The air traffic control lost connection with the plane midway.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the plane last established contact with the control tower in Havelian. The authority confirmed that the plane has crashed in Majab area of Havelian.
Sources privy to the air authorities reported that the aircraft encountered a technical snag and crashed in Piplian.
According to DSP Khurshid Havelian said that they have informations that the plane has crashed near Havelian.
According to reports, famous religious personality Junaid Jamshed along with his family and three foreigners were also among the other passengers on-board in the flight.
The plane crew members include Captain Saleh Janjua, Aly Akram, air hostess Sadaf Farooq and Asma Adil.
