KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has commended the performance of Sindh Government during heat crisis, said Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Sharif, who arrived in Karachi to take stock of things following death of over 1250 people in Karachi, spent a few hours in the metropolis and then flew back to Islamabad without speaking to media.
The prime minister also skipped a visit to Jinnah Hospital, where staff was put on alert.
“We have briefed the prime minister about the deaths caused by the sweltering heat,” Chief Minister Sharif told media persons.
The Prime Minister is saddened by the deaths in Karachi,” he said.
Shah said that the people of Karachi have expressed satisfaction over the premier’s visit to the city.
The chief minister maintained that the high death toll was caused by frequent power outages.
He said that federal government would fund the Green Line project aimed at easting travel issues of citizens.
