Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has declared that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is not a political party. He described it as sedition, a group bent on sabotage. He directed that cases should be filed against these elements.
During a meeting on law and order in Islamabad, Shahbaz Sharif expressed his concerns. He said this group has launched its third or fourth assault on the federation. Such hostile intentions, he noted, were unthinkable before 2014. He reminded everyone of the 126-day sit-in at D-Chowk, which caused humiliation for Pakistan. The sit-in disrupted the economy and even led to the cancellation of the Chinese President’s visit.
Shahbaz Sharif mentioned the recent visit of the Belarusian President, which he said was completed with grace despite the challenges. He criticized the group’s actions during the SCO conference, describing their behavior as destructive. He also highlighted the severe economic damage caused by these protests, stating that the group’s actions had cost Pakistan Rs 190 billion per day. The chaos, he added, resulted in the martyrdom of four Rangers and a policeman.
The Prime Minister noted that this group from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa even attempted to attack Islamabad a few days ago. He said the protests and sit-ins tarnished Pakistan’s image globally. Shahbaz Sharif emphasized that he has never seen such malicious intent in any political entity. He condemned their rhetoric, which included statements like attacking Islamabad even if rivers of blood flowed in Parachinar.
He also recalled protests held during the Chinese Prime Minister’s visit in October. According to him, these actions displayed unparalleled hostility towards Pakistan. He lamented that the group showed no concern for the country’s future or the interest of friendly nations eager to invest. Their only agenda, he stressed, was to destroy Pakistan.
Shahbaz Sharif urged that this is not a legitimate political organization. He called it sedition and insisted on strict action, including registering cases against them. He questioned whether Pakistan should be handed over to such destructive elements. He also criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for neglecting Parachinar and vowed that Pakistan would not be allowed to fall into the hands of these forces.
The Prime Minister concluded by stressing the need to stabilize the economy. He declared that those aiming to harm Pakistan must be stopped and their disruptive activities curtailed. He urged unity to break the hands of those responsible for this sedition.
