ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will depart from Lahore this afternoon for the USA, with a stopover in London, ahead of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York.
Following a one-night stay in London, the Prime Minister is set to fly to New York on the evening of September 23. His participation in the UNGA is a key highlight of this trip, where he is expected to address various global issues.
Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch will not accompany the Prime Minister to New York due to her commitments for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. Similarly, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will also be absent from the delegation.
Sources indicate that Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Information Minister Atta Tarar will join Prime Minister Sharif on this trip.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office confirmed the exclusion of Foreign Secretary Baloch and Deputy Prime Minister Dar from the delegation, citing their responsibilities related to the SCO meeting. However, she emphasized that the Prime Minister’s schedule for the UNGA session remains unchanged.
