ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has embarked on a two-day official visit to Tajikistan, following an invitation from President Emomali Rahmon.
Accompanying him are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi.
Upon arrival in Dushanbe, the Prime Minister will visit the memorial of Tajikistan’s National Hero Ismail Samani to lay a floral wreath. He is scheduled to meet President Emomali Rahmon at Qasr-e-Millat, where they will oversee the signing of various bilateral agreements and MoUs across several sectors of cooperation. A joint press conference by the Prime Minister and President Rahmon is also planned.
Later, President Rahmon will host a dinner in honor of the Prime Minister and his delegation at Qasr-e-Nowruz.
The Prime Minister will later attend the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) and SCO Plus Summits on July 3-4, 2024, in Astana, Kazakhstan, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Accompanying him will be Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, alongside other senior Cabinet members and government officials.
During the SCO Council of Heads of State Summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz will present Pakistan’s stance on key regional and global issues, highlighting the country’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and cooperation among SCO member nations.
Additionally, he will participate in the SCO Plus Summit, which brings together SCO member states, Dialogue Partners, Observer States, Guests of the Chair, and international organizations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will emphasize Pakistan’s perspective on critical regional and global issues, emphasizing the need to strengthen the SCO’s capabilities for the benefit of people across the SCO region.
Alongside the Summit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to engage in bilateral meetings with other leaders in attendance.
