ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of the Arab Monetary Fund, Dr. Fahad M Alturki, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday to discuss issues of mutual concern.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Arab countries, noting that these ties continue to strengthen. He highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to legally channel foreign remittances into the country, with a focus on the digitization of the e-commerce sector and the economy.
PM Shehbaz praised the digital connectivity project between Pakistan and the Middle East, facilitated by the collaboration between Raast and Buna, as a significant development. He stated that the Buna-Raast connectivity project will enhance digital transactions in Pakistan, regularize the flow of foreign exchange, and improve digital governance.
Dr. Fahad noted that Pakistan is the first non-Arab country to connect with the Arab Monetary Fund’s Buna project. He expressed optimism that the Buna-Raast initiative would further develop the economies of both regions.
