Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has offered heartfelt congratulations to Vladimir Putin on his successful re-election as President of Russia.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Sharif conveyed his warm wishes to President Putin, recognizing his triumph in the Russian presidential polls.
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of the robust bilateral ties between Pakistan and Russia, expressing eagerness to collaborate with President Putin’s administration to further fortify and expand the relationship between the two nations.
President Vladimir Putin clinched a resounding victory in the Russian presidential elections, securing an unprecedented 88% of the vote. With this re-election, Putin is poised to extend his leadership of Russia for another six years, marking a historic milestone as the country’s longest-serving leader in over two centuries.
Nevertheless, the election outcome has been met with skepticism and refusal to acknowledge from several Western nations, including the United States, Great Britain, and Ukraine, who have denounced the elections as unfair.
Responding to Western criticism, President Putin cautioned against Western presence in Ukraine and NATO intervention, warning that such actions could escalate tensions and lead to a potential third world war.
Addressing his supporters following his election victory, Putin shrugged off Western criticisms as anticipated, stressing that their motives were aimed at hindering Russia’s progress. He reiterated his commitment to defending Russia’s borders and addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, citing military strengthening and defense enhancements as key priorities for his upcoming presidency.
