PM Shehbaz Praises Successful AJK Talks, Honors Troops Martyred in Orakzai Operation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the government’s negotiation committee in Islamabad, commending it for the successful conclusion of talks in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and for setting what he called a “model of dialogue and understanding.”

The meeting was attended by Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Rana Sanaullah, Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan.

The prime minister lauded the committee’s efforts in resolving all issues in AJK through mutual consensus, stressing that the concerns of the Kashmiri people would be addressed in full. “Public welfare and peace remain our top priorities,” he said, reaffirming his government’s commitment to the development and prosperity of Azad Kashmir in line with the aspirations of its people.

He also praised the Joint Action Committee (JAC) for demonstrating patience and cooperation during negotiations, describing their role as vital to the success of the dialogue process.

Tribute to Security Forces
During the meeting, the prime minister paid tribute to Pakistan’s security forces for their recent counterterrorism operation in Orakzai district, which eliminated 19 militants described as Indian-backed elements of Fitna al-Khawarij.

He expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Arif and Major Tayyab Rahat, noting that their sacrifices reflect the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to the nation’s defense.

“The sacrifices of our fearless soldiers will never go in vain,” the prime minister said. “The government remains resolute in its mission to crush terrorism and foil the hostile designs of those acting on external support.”

National Resolve Reaffirmed
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that his government would continue to pursue both peace in Azad Kashmir and the complete eradication of terrorism across Pakistan. He said protecting the rights of Kashmiris and preserving national unity would remain enduring state priorities.

He offered prayers for the martyred soldiers and urged the nation to remember their families in their prayers, calling the operation a testament to Pakistan’s unbreakable resolve against militancy.
