ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that no new duties will be imposed on solar panels for the general public during a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to providing affordable and renewable solar energy to all citizens, highlighting that comprehensive planning is underway to steer the economy positively. The PM stated that the country is moving towards economic stability, with efforts focused on boosting national exports by developing small and medium-sized industries. He stressed the elimination of privileges for the elite and those exploiting national resources, prioritizing economic security and equal growth opportunities for the common man.
The Prime Minister urged ministers to ensure their attendance in parliament during the budget session. He also discussed “Azm-e-Istahkam,” a multifaceted initiative involving security institutions and the collective national vision. Rather than launching new armed operations, ongoing intelligence-based actions will be intensified to eradicate terrorists and violent extremism.
The federal cabinet was briefed on the progress of privatizing state institutions, particularly Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). It was informed that the privatization process of PIA is advancing quickly, with several companies showing interest and planning pre-bidding visits. The bidding for PIA is scheduled for the first week of August, and the Prime Minister directed to expedite this process with transparency.
Additionally, the cabinet approved a request from the UN World Food Program to transit a container from Karachi to Kabul containing truck parts, granting special permission on humanitarian grounds for one-time transit only.
