Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Azerbaijan on a two-day official visit from November 7 to 8 to attend the country’s Victory Day celebrations, marking the fifth anniversary of its historic triumph. At the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev, PM Shehbaz Sharif will participate in the official festivities in Baku, reflecting Pakistan’s deep-rooted friendship and diplomatic solidarity with Azerbaijan.
PM Shehbaz Sharif Visits Azerbaijan to Attend Victory Day Celebrations as part of his continued engagement with the leadership of Azerbaijan. According to the Foreign Office, the prime minister will also hold an important meeting with President Ilham Aliyev to review the full spectrum of bilateral ties and explore new avenues of cooperation in trade, energy, defence, education, and regional connectivity.
The Foreign Office highlighted that Pakistan and Azerbaijan share strong fraternal relations based on mutual faith, trust, and cultural ties. Both countries also maintain active cooperation in regional and international organisations such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), and the United Nations (UN).
The visit is expected to further solidify Pakistan’s unwavering support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while enhancing the strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations.
This is Prime Minister Shehbaz’s third visit to Azerbaijan in 2025, following his earlier trips in February and July. During the 17th Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Summit held in Khankendi in July, PM Shehbaz met President Aliyev and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and advancing regional cooperation.
