PM to visit to Rashakai Economic Zone today to review construction work

PESHAWAR— Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will pay a visit to multifaceted Rashakai Economic Zone (RSEZ) being constructed on 1,000 acres land on a strategic location of Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway.

During his visit, China Road and Bridge Corporation will brief the Prime Minister about the construction of Rashakai SEZ, which was commercially launched on May 28, 2021 by the former Prime Minister Imran Khan, is in progress at a steady pace.

Later the Managing Directors of NTDCL and the SNGPL will brief the Prime Minister about the provision of gas and electricity to the economic zone. The Prime Minister will also visit the construction site and address a ceremony there.

The RSEZ, is a six to seven-year project would be developed in three phases. Total area designated for the industrial use is 702 acres and as per Federal SEZ Areas Regulations,159 acres would be developed in Phase I, 279 acres in Phase II and 264 acres in Phase III, besides 76 acres of land allocated for the commercial use.

Rashakai Special Economic Zone, a flagship project of KP Economic Zone Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) of the KP Government under CPEC, would be a hub of foreign investment, promoting industrialization and generating thousands of direct jobs for the youth.

It is pertinent to mention here that the construction of industrial units is going on including Century Steel, which is a Chinese-owned conglomerate and will be a state-of-the-art steel manufacturing facility.

Recently KP Board of Investment and Trade had claimed to have allocated land stretching over an area of 42 acres to 11 enterprises in the RSEZ to establish industrial units with expected investment of Rs11.826 billion and 2,500 employment opportunities.
