The Government of Pakistan has launched an interest-free laptop financing scheme under the Prime Minister’s Youth Business and Agriculture Loan Scheme (PMYB&ALS) to help young people access modern technology.
The initiative aims to support students, freelancers and young entrepreneurs by making laptops more affordable. Officials say the program will help youth participate in digital education, online work and technology-based businesses.
Key Features of the Scheme
Interest-Free Financing
The loan provided under the scheme is completely interest-free. Beneficiaries will not have to pay any markup on the amount used to purchase laptops.
Financing Limits
- Up to Rs150,000 for entry-level laptops
- Up to Rs300,000 for mid-range laptops
- Up to Rs450,000 for high-performance laptops
The approved loan amount will be based on the actual price of the laptop or the maximum financing limit, whichever is lower.
Easy Monthly Installments
Applicants can repay the loan through manageable monthly installments over a fixed period, reducing financial pressure on young users.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the scheme, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Must be a Pakistani citizen
- Age should generally be between 18 and 30 years
- Must be a student of a recognised institution, freelancer, or involved in a business activity
- The educational institution must be recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC)
Applicants with loan default records or financial fraud history will not be eligible for the program.
How to Apply
The application process is fully online. Interested candidates must register on the official government portal and upload the required documents, including:
- National Identity Card (CNIC)
- Educational or professional proof
- Other supporting documents
After the initial review, the partner bank will contact shortlisted applicants to proceed with further processing.
