PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted light rain and snowfall in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Thursday. However, Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan are expected to experience cold and dry weather.
According to the PMD, daytime weather in certain KP districts will be cloudy and cold, with light rain and snowfall anticipated in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohat, and Malakand during the night.
The PMD also mentioned the likelihood of heavy fog in Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Peshawar, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and surrounding areas during both morning and night hours.
The PMD’s forecast indicates that a weak western disturbance is expected to reach the northern areas of the country, bringing light to moderate rain (50-60% coverage) and potential light snowfall in high-altitude mountainous regions. Some drizzle and light rain may occur in southwestern Balochistan and western parts of Punjab. However, significant rainfall is not anticipated in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan from this system.
Due to changes in wind direction and speed, fog intensity may vary in different parts of Pakistan, particularly in Punjab regions.
PMD also predicts fog in certain areas of Sindh, including Jacobabad, Hyderabad, Mohenjodaro, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Ghotki, Khairpur, Kashmore, and Padidan. This is expected to keep daytime temperatures below normal in most Sindh districts.
Additionally, cold and dry weather is forecasted for most Punjab districts, with heavy smog covering Murree, Galiat, Gur, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Mangala, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahimyar Khan, Hafizabad, Bhakkar, Leh, and Dera Ghazi Khan districts, as well as surrounding areas.
