Police Repel Terrorist Attacks in Bannu and Karak, Kill Three Militants

Security forces foiled major terrorist attacks in Bannu and Karak districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing three militants and injuring four others. Police confirmed that the attackers carried away their dead and wounded while retreating from the scene.

In Bannu, armed men first attempted to storm the Miryan Police Station. Soon after, they targeted the Mozang checkpoint. Police teams stood firm and fought back with planning and bravery, forcing the militants to flee. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan said the assault on Miryan Police Station was repelled within 20 minutes.

The second strike at the Mozang checkpoint was more severe. Dozens of heavily armed extremists launched the raid, sparking an hour-long gun battle. According to the RPO, three militants were killed and four others sustained injuries. Despite heavy fire, the militants managed to escape, dragging away the dead and injured. Three policemen received minor wounds during the exchange.

In a separate incident in Karak, insurgents attacked the Gurguri Police Station. The assault led to intense firing, but the District Police Officer (DPO) confirmed that the attackers could not advance towards the compound.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the swift and decisive response of the police in Bannu. He said the forces not only defeated both terrorist attacks but also eliminated three militants. “The police have written a new story of courage by standing tall against these cowardly acts,” Naqvi remarked. He added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police had once again proven their unmatched bravery.

Through their timely action, the police demonstrated resilience and strength in the face of repeated militant assaults. Both incidents underline the determination of security forces to crush terrorist plots and safeguard the region from violence.
