Police and the Counter Terrorism Department in Rawalpindi collaborated in a joint operation, thwarting a terrorist attack on Adiala Jail on Wednesday night.
According to CPO Khalid Saeed Hamdani, the collective effort prevented a major disaster. Three terrorists have been apprehended and relocated to an undisclosed secure location.
All three suspects are reported to be from Afghanistan. Authorities seized a significant cache of automatic weapons and ammunition from the terrorists, along with grenades, improvised explosive devices, and maps of Adiala Jail.
Following the arrests, law enforcement agencies conducted a thorough search operation in the vicinity of Adiala Jail.
A video footage displayed a convoy of police and CTD officials stationed at an undisclosed location at night. Armed personnel proceeded to conduct a search operation in a deserted area.
Adiala Jail currently houses several high-profile prisoners, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan, former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and former Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi.
