Poling for Karachi deputy mayor election beings


KARACHI: The polling for election of Deputy Mayor of Karachi has been started at Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).
Two polling booths have been set up and ballot papers have also been sent to the KMC building.
300 elected representatives of Karachi City Council including 73 women will cast their votes.
The contest will be held between Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan candidate Arshad Hassan who was elected as the chairperson from UC-24 in District East and Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Karamullah Waqasi who was elected as the chairperson from UC-31.
Deputy Mayor seat was vacant after the disqualification of Arshad Vohra in a verdict on 23 March of Election Commission of Pakistan for switching the party.
