Political stability vital for economic development, says Shehbaz

Shehbaz Sharif, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), emphasized the crucial link between Pakistan’s economic growth and political stability.

He addressed economic challenges, including a struggling $350 billion economy, low growth, a weak currency, and rising prices affecting those with lower incomes. Currently, a caretaker government is in place until general elections, expected by January.

Shehbaz, whose term ended in August, spoke to traders in Lahore, stressing that a stable economy leads to development. He mentioned his government’s sacrifices for the state’s sake and criticized the current government, without explicitly naming the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Shehbaz urged unity, highlighting the need to overcome societal divisions. Regarding Nawaz Sharif’s return on October 21, he expressed optimism about progress under Nawaz’s leadership, emphasizing his three-time tenure as prime minister.

The PML-N is preparing to welcome Nawaz, who will address a gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan.
