PPP rejects JIT’s report; vows to fight cases in courts

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Monday rejected the JIT’s report in fake accounts and money laundering case, saying that the party leadership would fight the cases in the courts.
Responding to federal officials including Fawad Chaudhry and Shehzad Akbar’s press conference about JIT’s report, spokesman for Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar urged the chief justice to take notice of the press conference Shehzad Akbar. He said that the PPP did not afraid of such JIT reports and accusations. Like the past, he said that the PPP leadership would come clean from the courts. He said that they would also protest against the so-called accountability of the opposition parties.
Khokhar said that Supreme Court was not a trial court and the case would be referred to a trial court, where the PPP leaders would defend themselves. He said that PPP leadership had faced similar charges in the past.
He said that PPP leadership would devise party’s future strategy on December 26, which would be announced on December 27 at a ceremony of death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto. He said that Bilawal Bhutto would chair central executive committee on December 26. He said that Bilawal Bhutto would continue to raise voice over national issues including missing persons and freedom expression.
He said that the opposition parties were being targeted in so-called accountability campaign. He said that the PPP was in contact with other opposition parties.
