ISLAMABAD: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan arrived in Pakistan on Thursday for a two-day official visit scheduled from July 11-12, according to a report by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
The visit is expected to witness the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs). During his stay, President Aliyev is set to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari.
The discussions between the leaders will encompass a wide array of topics aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Earlier statements by Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik indicated that Azerbaijan is contemplating an investment ranging from $2 to $3 billion in Pakistan, with a particular focus on the mineral sector, including oil and gas.
The Azerbaijani interest extends to the exploration of oil and gas resources, as well as expanding investments in the LNG sector.
Minister Malik highlighted the anticipated impact of President Aliyev’s visit on bolstering trade relations between the two nations.
He also underscored the agenda’s emphasis on increasing textile exports and fostering collaboration in the IT sector.
The discussions during President Aliyev’s visit are poised to pave the way for deeper economic ties and strategic partnerships between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
