President Asif Ali Zardari delivered a resolute message during his address at the Pakistan Day Military Parade held at Shakarparian Parade ground in Islamabad on Saturday, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty.
President Zardari stressed Pakistan’s dedication to maintaining peaceful relations with neighboring countries, emphasizing its status as a peace-loving nation and a responsible nuclear power. However, he made it clear that Pakistan stands prepared to defend itself against any aggression, with both its populace and armed forces poised to counter any threats to its security.
He condemned terrorist groups’ efforts to destabilize Pakistan, highlighting the parade as a symbol of national unity, strength, and pride. President Zardari also emphasized Pakistan’s significant role in the global fight against terrorism, calling on the international community to acknowledge its contributions and sacrifices.
Addressing the issue of Indian occupation in Jammu and Kashmir, President Zardari described it as a major destabilizing factor in the region. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, urging the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions to address the situation.
Acknowledging Pakistan’s challenges, President Zardari stressed the importance of collective action, highlighting the role of the democratic government and the shared responsibility of all citizens. He expressed confidence in the country’s youth and announced initiatives such as the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council to attract foreign investment in various sectors, aimed at strengthening the economy.
Additionally, President Zardari called on all political parties to prioritize national interests over partisan agendas, emphasizing the need for unity to ensure the country’s security and prosperity.
In solidarity with the Palestinian people, President Zardari urged the international community to intervene to stop the ongoing violence and loss of innocent lives in Palestine. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause until a resolution is achieved in line with their aspirations.
