KARACHI: A prisoner involved in a kidnapping and rape case has escaped from Malir Jail, leading to swift action against negligent jail staff.
The escapee, Muhammad Javed, son of Abdul Majeed, was being held in Barrack No. 5, Circle No. 1 of the jail. Reports reveal that Javed managed to break through the window of a washroom and scale the prison wall to make his escape.
Javed had been arrested two years ago by the SITE Superhighway Police for his involvement in the kidnapping and rape case. Following his escape, immediate action was taken against the jail staff, with seven police personnel arrested and a case registered for negligence.
Among those charged under FIR No. 24/1350 at Shah Latif Town Police Station are Assistant Superintendent Abdullah Khaskheli, Duty Officer Head Constable Waheed Tanoli, and several other officers. Malir Jail Deputy and Superintendent Zulfiqar Ali Pirzada filed the case, and a search operation has been launched to capture the fugitive.
The authorities are intensifying efforts to recapture Javed and ensure those responsible for the security breach are held accountable.
