Project Freedom: Iran Warns US Over Strait of Hormuz Naval Escort Plan

Iran has issued a strong warning to the United States over its new maritime plan as tensions rise in the Strait of Hormuz. The situation has escalated after Washington announced a naval escort mission for blocked commercial vessels under the initiative called Project Freedom. Iran says any US interference will violate the existing ceasefire agreement.

Tehran stated that it considers the US naval activity in the strategic waterway as a direct breach of the fragile truce. Iranian officials warned that the country will respond if American forces attempt to control or interfere with shipping movements in the region.

On the other side, President Donald Trump said the United States is launching a large-scale operation to protect stranded vessels. He described the move as humanitarian, aimed at helping crews facing shortages of food and essential supplies. Under Project Freedom, US forces will escort ships safely through the Strait of Hormuz and prevent further disruption to global trade routes.

Trump also said diplomatic talks with Iran are still ongoing and could lead to a positive outcome. However, Iranian officials remain firm, saying they will not accept any foreign control over the waterway and linking the crisis to wider regional tensions.

Military involvement has increased as US Central Command confirmed deployment of destroyers, aircraft, drones, and thousands of personnel for the mission. Meanwhile, oil prices have surged significantly due to supply disruptions caused by the ongoing blockade.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global energy route, and the standoff between Washington and Tehran continues to raise concerns about broader economic and security impacts.
