Web Desk: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has categorically denied reports circulating on social media regarding a reduction in taxes on mobile phones, calling the claims false and misleading.
In an official statement, the PTA clarified that a notification being shared online, which suggests a cut in mobile phone taxes and outlines alleged instructions for importers and consumers, is fake and has no legal validity.
The authority confirmed that no reduction has been made in the taxes imposed on mobile phones.
The PTA urged the public, importers, and business community to avoid relying on unverified information and to seek confirmation only from official PTA channels or other relevant government authorities.
Officials warned that misinformation can create unnecessary confusion in the market and advised citizens to remain cautious when encountering such claims on social media platforms.
