PTA Warns Mobile Users Against Unregistered Phones Under DIRBS

The PTA Warns Mobile Users Against Unregistered Phones Under DIRBS in a new nationwide advisory that has quickly become a trending Pakistan tech update. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority cautioned all mobile users about the risks linked to unregistered or non compliant devices, which may be blocked at any time.

PTA officials stated that only registered devices can operate under the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System. Any mobile phone that fails to meet DIRBS requirements faces immediate blocking from all mobile networks.

Unregistered devices often attract buyers due to their lower prices. These phones are cheaper because taxes and customs duties are not paid. Low income users continue to choose them, unaware of the hidden risks. PTA warned that these devices may face sudden blocking, poor connectivity, weak signals, and problems with calls, messages, and mobile data.

The authority advised users to verify their phones through the 15 digit IMEI number. Users can obtain the IMEI by dialing number hash 06 hash. They can check the number through the PTA website or by sending it to 8484 via SMS.
