PTI Activists Detained After Attempt to Evade Capture Disguised as Wedding Procession
Law enforcement intercepted a group of PTI activists on Sunday in Faisalabad, who were attempting to evade capture by disguising themselves as a wedding procession. The convoy, comprising eight flower-decorated vehicles, was stopped on Sargodha Road.
Upon inspection, police identified the passengers as PTI workers and detained 27 individuals for violating Section 144, which prohibits unauthorized gatherings. Authorities stated that the group failed to secure prior permission for their assembly.
The crackdown is part of heightened security measures in the region, where over 500 PTI workers have been detained for similar offenses. The police emphasized that these actions are aimed at maintaining public order amidst strict enforcement of legal restrictions.
