Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has lodged a complaint with the Supreme Judicial Council against the Chief Election Commissioner and its members on Saturday.
PTI’s General Secretary, Omar Ayub, filed the complaint through Barrister Ali Zafar.
The complaint highlights several events before and after the elections, alleging that the Election Commission failed to conduct free and fair elections. PTI claims their polling agents were removed from polling stations, and the Election Commission did not adhere to legal protocols in announcing the results, neglecting instances of pre-poll rigging.
Further allegations include pressuring PTI members to switch loyalties, confiscating nomination papers from PTI candidates, kidnapping workers, and restricting media coverage of PTI. The Election Commission reportedly took no action and hindered PTI’s campaign efforts.
The complaint also states that media and polling agents did not receive Form 45 on time, returning officers were appointed based on political affiliations, and PTI was excluded from elections, including the loss of reserved seats. Additionally, the Election Commission is accused of actively opposing PTI in court cases.
PTI has requested an inquiry into the alleged misconduct of the Chief Election Commissioner and its members. If the allegations are substantiated, PTI recommends their removal from office.
