PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice-President Sher Afzal Marwat will contest for the upcoming elections from Peshawar.
Marwat confirmed his candidacy for the National Assembly historic Constituency NA-32 and shared that his nomination papers have been submitted by his lawyer.
Expressing confidence in PTI’s success, Marwat asserted that the party will emerge victorious in the general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024.
It’s worth noting that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) recently nullified PTI’s intra-party election, citing non-compliance with the constitution. In response, PTI has announced its intention to challenge the ECP’s decision in court.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTI founder Chairman Imran Khan had won the NA-32 (current NA-31) with more than 32,000 votes after beating ANP’s Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, backed by PDM, in the October 2022 by-elections.
In the 2023 elections too, Imran Khan secured the seat by defeating the ANP stalwart Ghulam Ahmed Bilour in this constituency.
