PESHAWAR: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has taken a clear lead in Local Bodies re-polls at 356 polling stations with 51 district council seats followed by Independent with 25.
According to unofficial results, PTI secured 51 district councils, Independent 25, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl 14, Awai National Party nine, Jumaat-e-Islami and Qaumi Wattan Party secured three district seats each.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results PTI secured 25 Tehsil council seats, independent 27, JUI-F 15, ANP 11, QWP 4 and PPP three seats.
Re-polling took place on 362 polling stations Thursday under strict security after local government elections on the 362 seats held in late May were declared void following widespread reports of rigging and irregularities.
Re-polling was held in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Abbottabad, Manshera, and Buner districts. Polling started at 8:00AM and continued till 6:00PM without any break.
