ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has nominated former minister Omar Ayub as its candidate for the prime minister’s slot.
Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, after a meeting with PTI Founder Imran Khan outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, announced the nomination of Omar Ayub as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s candidate for the prime minister’s position.
Expressing hope that the prime ministerial seat would be occupied by a PTI member, Qaiser emphasized the party’s belief that its mandate was unjustly taken during the recent elections.
In addition, Qaiser declared the initiation of a nationwide protest movement by PTI, with details regarding the protest dates to be disclosed later in the day. He stated, “Rallies and protests will be staged across the country.”
Furthermore, Qaiser mentioned being tasked with reaching out to all political parties, noting widespread protests from various political factions including Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s party, ANP, and Qaumi Watan Party.
Characterizing the February 8 elections as the worst in the nation’s history, Qaiser claimed that the legitimacy of the polls was not acknowledged even on a global scale. He asserted his intention to engage with multiple political parties on the matter.
