In response to the decision by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to field candidates against Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed instead of offering him a party ticket, posters featuring PTI’s leader have vanished from Lal Haveli.
Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, the former interior minister, was denied a PTI ticket for the upcoming 2024 general elections on February 8. Consequently, images of Imran Khan have been removed from Lal Haveli, which serves as Sheikh Rasheed’s political base and residence.
PTI has nominated two candidates, one male and one female, to compete against Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed in Rawalpindi’s NA-56 and NA-57 constituencies. Sources indicate that following PTI’s announcement of candidates against Sheikh Rashid, PTI flags and pictures of Imran Khan were taken down from Lal Haveli.
Reports suggest that various pictures of Imran Khan, both alone and with Sheikh Rashid, previously displayed on stairs and in meeting rooms outside Sheikh Rashid’s residence, were removed on Saturday. These pictures, which had adorned Lal Haveli for eight years, were taken down in light of the recent political developments.
