In a press conference held in Islamabad, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced its decision to take on the role of opposition both at the federal level and in Punjab. PTI leader Barrister Saif, alongside the leader of the Qaumi Watan Party, disclosed this decision, stating it was made under the guidance of the party’s founding chairman.
Barrister Saif underscored that had the election results remained unaltered, PTI would have had enough seats to form a government with a comfortable majority of 180 seats at the center. However, discrepancies found in Form-47 resulted in the manipulation of results, adversely affecting candidates who had rightfully secured victories as per Form-45.
Expressing deep concern over the potential repercussions on future generations due to such actions, Barrister Saif highlighted PTI’s efforts to collaborate with other political entities to jointly protest against electoral rigging. Notably, parties such as Jamaat-e-Islami, JUI, and Mahmood Khan Achakzai have already protested, while Aftab Sherpao has shown receptivity to PTI’s concerns.
Sikander Hayat Khan, the chief of the Qaumi Watan Party, echoed serious reservations regarding the election outcomes, mentioning that after thorough consultations within the party regarding PTI’s proposal, they will announce their future course of action.
