PESHAWAR: After the absolute electoral triumph, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is engaged in strategic deliberations for government formation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), setting the stage for an anticipated shift in provincial leadership.
Amidst the unveiling of nominees for chief minister and speaker positions, the PTI has now turned its attention towards the meticulous selection of ministers for the forthcoming provincial cabinet, signaling a pivotal phase in KP’s political landscape.
In a move reflecting both continuity and innovation, the PTI is poised to introduce a blend of fresh talent and seasoned veterans into its anticipated cabinet lineup. Notably, individuals such as Taimur Jhagra, Shaukat Yousafzai, and Kamran Bangash, despite facing electoral setbacks, are slated to assume advisory roles within the cabinet. Jhagra is earmarked for the critical health portfolio, Yousafzai is poised to take charge of information affairs, and Bangash is expected to helm the sports and culture department.
Furthermore, the potential return of Mushtaq Ghani, the incumbent KP Assembly speaker, to the education ministry adds another layer of expertise to the prospective cabinet.
Amidst a flurry of deliberations, a diverse array of names is under consideration for ministerial roles, including seasoned figures like former provincial minister Shakeel Khan and emerging leaders such as Meena Khan and Syed Qasim Shah. Additionally, prominent figures like Babar Swati, Akbar Ayub, Faisal Amin Gandapur, and Anwar Zeb are emerging as strong contenders for cabinet positions.
These ongoing consultations underscore the PTI’s unwavering commitment to crafting a competent and inclusive cabinet capable of addressing the multifaceted challenges facing KP. By blending experienced politicians with fresh perspectives, the party aims to deliver on its pledges of effective governance, robust development, and tangible progress across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Prior to these developments, the PTI had set the stage for a significant political transition by nominating former minister Omar Ayub as its candidate for the prime ministerial role. Additionally, the announcement of MPA-elect Aqibullah as the party’s choice for the KP Assembly speakership further underscores the PTI’s strategic maneuvers in shaping the province’s political landscape.
