ISLAMABAD: In compliance with the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) orders, former Prime Minister Imran Khan moved from Attock to Adiala jail on Tuesday night.
A day earlier, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq expressed his dissatisfaction with the detention of an ‘under-trial prisoner’ in Attock jail rather than Adiala jail, directing relevant authorities to transfer PTI Chief, who is presently on judicial remand in the Cypher case, to Adiala.
Acting upon IHC’s directives, Islamabad Police facilitated Imran Khan’s relocation from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail. The process involved a significant deployment of Islamabad Police personnel, along with a convoy comprising 13 vehicles, including police vans and an ambulance equipped with medical personnel and doctors.
Imran Khan’s transfer was prompted by an ongoing court case related to the Cypher case, which is being heard in Attock Jail. Delays in implementing Chief Justice Aamir Farooq’s order issued the previous day, were encountered.
The IHC has reserved its judgment on a petition seeking an open hearing of Imran Khan’s bail plea in the Cypher case.
Imran Khan is facing allegations of corruption and misuse of authority in multiple cases, including the Toshakhana case, the Cypher case, and the marriage case.
Earlier today, a special court established under the Official Secrets Act extended PTI chairman Imran Khan’s judicial remand for the third time, covering the next 14 days.
