LAHORE: In a recent development, the Election Tribunal of Lahore High Court granted permission to Dr. Yasmin Rashid to participate in the upcoming elections from NA-130. This decision came after the tribunal accepted her appeal and overturned the rating officer’s verdict, who initially rejected her nomination papers. Dr. Yasmin Rashid, a leader of the PTI, is currently in jail.
Notably, this decision was reached on the last day for disposing of appeals related to the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers. The tribunals, led by High Court judges, are overseeing this process. As per the election schedule, the preliminary list of candidates will be displayed tomorrow, and candidates have until Friday to withdraw their nomination papers. The revised list of candidates will be published on Friday, with electoral symbols being allotted on Saturday. The general elections are set to take place on the 8th of next month.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided against any seat adjustments with other political parties in Lahore for the upcoming general elections on February 8. The PML-N has finalized its initial list of candidates from Takht Lahore, with key leaders such as Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Hamza Shehbaz, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Sheikh Rohail Asghar, Saadrafique, and Shahbaz Sharif contesting from various National Assembly constituencies.
