ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a nationwide public holiday on February 5 in observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
According to an official notification issued by the Cabinet Division, government offices and institutions across the country will remain closed on Thursday to mark the annual day of solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed every year in Pakistan to express support for the Kashmiri people and their right to self-determination. Various events, including seminars, rallies, conferences, and special prayer gatherings, are organized nationwide to highlight the Kashmir issue.
Political leaders, civil society members, and citizens participate in these activities to reaffirm Pakistan’s continued diplomatic, moral, and political support for Kashmiris.
Authorities have also directed relevant institutions to arrange awareness programmes and special events to mark the occasion.
