KARACHI: The governments of Punjab and Sindh have announced a public holiday on February 5 (Wednesday) to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day, expressing support for the oppressed Kashmiris in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
The Punjab government confirmed that all government offices will remain closed across the province on February 5 in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day. A notification issued by the provincial government stated that the holiday is meant to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
Similarly, the Sindh government issued a notification declaring a public holiday in the province, in line with the rest of the country. All government and semi-government institutions in Sindh will remain closed on that day.
The federal government also confirmed the holiday as part of its annual calendar, ensuring that government and semi-government offices, as well as banks, will remain closed nationwide.
Moreover, educational institutions and markets across the country will also observe the holiday in solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed annually to express support for the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir in their struggle for self-determination.
