Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif recently launched the “Apna Chhat Apna Ghar” (Our Roof, Our House) housing scheme, following the announcement of a power subsidy. This initiative offers interest-free loans of up to Rs1.5 million to landowners in urban and rural areas for the construction of homes. The loans are structured for repayment over seven years, with a three-month grace period where no payments are required.
The Chief Minister highlighted that monthly installments will be capped at Rs14,000 to help families manage their household budgets, covering essentials like education, utilities, and food. She assured that the scheme has no hidden costs, deliberately excluding banks to avoid additional fees.
Eligible individuals can apply for the scheme online or via a dedicated helpline for assistance from local district offices. The housing provided under this scheme will include two bedrooms, a TV lounge, a bathroom, and a well-sized kitchen. The government plans to extend this housing initiative across Punjab within five years, aiming to provide homes to all those in need.
