LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has initiated a crackdown on bogus arms license dealers, registering cases against nine dealers as per directives from the Punjab Interior Secretary.
The department filed First Information Reports (FIRs) under the Punjab Arms Ordinance 1965 after a formal inquiry was conducted. According to the findings, the accused dealers were involved in creating fraudulent documents and selling arms with fake licenses.
The Interior Secretary emphasized that selling weapons through counterfeit licenses is a serious crime, calling for stringent legal measures against those involved. He reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy is in place for fake arms licenses and unauthorized dealers.
The Home Department is also undertaking a comprehensive review of arms dealers’ documentation across the province to ensure adherence to legal standards.
