Punjab Govt Schools Enforce Dress Code for Teachers

he Punjab School Education Department has issued a notification enforcing a standard dress code for teachers in government schools across Punjab.

According to the directive, all teachers will be required to follow the prescribed dress guidelines. The notification states that teachers must maintain a professional appearance to promote discipline and a clear professional identity within schools.

Male teachers have been advised to wear plain and simple shalwar kameez. They may also opt for a shirt and trousers. Closed shoes or strap sandals will be allowed.

Female teachers have been instructed to wear modest and dignified attire that reflects professionalism. They are advised to use closed shoes or simple sandals. The notification also mentions wearing an academic gown as part of the dress requirements.

Officials said the aim of the policy is to encourage uniformity, improve decorum, and strengthen respect for teachers among students and parents. The department has circulated the directive to all school heads for implementation.

Authorities believe the move will help create a more disciplined learning environment and reinforce the professional image of educators in public schools.
