The Federal Ministry of Interior has issued directives to the Punjab government to commence the second phase of operations for the repatriation of Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC) holders starting from April 15.
Under the supervision of Federal Secretary Interior Aftab Durani, a video link conference was attended by high-ranking officials of the Interior Ministry, including the Home Secretary Punjab, Noura Alamin.
Reliable sources have indicated that the federal government will provide lists of ACC holders to be shared with the police and other law enforcement agencies.
Similar to the strategy employed for the apprehension of illegal foreign nationals and Afghan citizens, who were subsequently housed in holding centers established in districts before being deported, ACC cardholders will be initially encouraged to return to Afghanistan voluntarily. Following this, those who do not comply will be apprehended and deported.
It is reported that the data of ACC cardholders is available with the federal government, which will alleviate past difficulties in tracing illegal foreign nationals.
Furthermore, a briefing was provided on initiating Phase Three immediately after the conclusion of Phase Two, which involves the repatriation of Afghan Proof of Residence (POR) cardholders.
Additionally, it was disclosed that over 400,000 illegal foreign Afghan nationals have been deported thus far.
