The Punjab Police in Lahore has formally requested Rs1.19 billion from the provincial government to cover expenses related to security measures for the upcoming general elections in 2024.
The funds are sought for various aspects, including security personnel, petrol, and food and drink expenditures.
The Election Commission has received the updated scheme of polling stations following a recent survey.

Notably, the police have identified 5,624 polling stations as highly sensitive and 14,072 as sensitive.
Control rooms have been established in the Inspector General (IG) office for election day monitoring, with a deployment of 130,000 police officers slated for duty.
