Punjab’s Green Tractor Push Accelerates in Jhelum

Jhelum rolled into the next stage of Punjab’s Green Tractor Scheme as 39 farmers received subsidised tractors under the government’s expanding mechanisation drive. Punjab’s Green Tractor Push Accelerates in Jhelum leads today’s trending searches linked to Punjab agriculture reforms, farmer subsidies, mechanised farming in Pakistan, and Green Tractor Scheme updates.

Jhelum Farmers Receive Major Financial Relief

Farmers from Jhelum, Dina, and Sohawa secured 39 tractors through a transparent selection process. Ten farmers came from Tehsil Jhelum, ten from Tehsil Dina, and nineteen from Tehsil Sohawa.
Each tractor included a subsidy of Rs1 million, marking one of the district’s biggest direct support initiatives for small farmers.

Officials said the programme fits into a broader e-mechanisation plan designed to boost crop yields, promote modern machinery, and reduce residue burning. These steps aim to limit winter smog, a major concern in Punjab and a top-trending environmental topic today.

Modern Machinery Begins to Change Farming Practices

Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani addressed the distribution ceremony. He stressed how new tools like super seeders, balers, and Kubota machinery are driving cleaner and more efficient farming techniques.

Kayani also highlighted major development projects in the district. These include upgrades on the Lilla–Jhelum Road, new improvements in DHQ Jhelum, the THQ hospital in Dina, and future links to the Lahore–Sialkot Motorway. He added that both federal and provincial authorities are reviewing long-standing requests to extend gas supply to Dina and Sohawa.

A Flagship Scheme for Punjab’s Rural Uplift

Provincial officials called the Green Tractor Scheme one of Punjab’s key agricultural programmes this year. They expect the subsidised machinery to reduce equipment costs, strengthen rural incomes, support high-yield districts, and enhance export prospects. They also believe the scheme will improve industrial output by modernising primary production.
