KARACHI: The man accused of sexually assaulting multiple children in Karachi’s Qayyumabad area has confessed to his crimes before a judicial magistrate, police confirmed on Saturday.
The suspect was produced before a magistrate in Karachi (South), where his statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) was formally recorded. When asked if he understood the proceedings, he responded: “Yes, I am in court and here to have my statement recorded.” Following the confession, he was sent to jail on judicial remand.
According to police, a formal identification parade has been completed, and the statements of four victims have been recorded so far. Six separate FIRs have been registered against the accused.
South SSP Mehroze Ali, while announcing the arrest earlier this month, revealed disturbing details of the suspect’s alleged crimes. Investigators said the man had been targeting children between the ages of five and 12 since 2016, luring them with small amounts of money before assaulting them in a rented room or shop.
Police recovered over 100 videos of the assaults from the suspect’s mobile phone, along with a USB device containing additional footage. A diary with details of victims was also seized. Officials said a young girl who managed to secretly take the USB device from the suspect’s room played a crucial role in leading police to him.
Initial findings suggest the man originally came to Karachi from Abbottabad in 2011 and began working as a juice vendor in Qayyumabad in 2016 — the same period when he allegedly started targeting children.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify more victims and examine the extensive digital evidence collected.
