Adviser to the Prime Minister, Rana Sanaullah, has dismissed the opposition’s calls for fresh elections. He questioned their motives and suggested they focus on constructive engagement instead of political protests.
Speaking on a private TV channel, Rana Sanaullah’s statement highlighted that opposition parties have no real strategy beyond demanding elections. “What else will they do except make such demands? We should not worry about their calls for elections,” he remarked. He emphasized the need for dialogue and urged both the government and opposition to work together on national matters.
Reaffirming the government’s approach, Rana Sanaullah’s statement stressed the importance of political alliances. He specifically mentioned Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, saying the government values his guidance. “We should continue to meet Fazlur Rehman and discuss concerns with him. He always listens sympathetically,” he added.
Sanaullah also revealed that PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif is set to meet with Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) after his discussions with Members of Provincial Assemblies (MPAs). This move aims to strengthen party coordination and internal unity.
Addressing concerns raised by the Punjab governor, Rana Sanaullah’s statement confirmed that their visit to the Governor House resolved all objections. “The governor’s concerns were valid, and we have now addressed them,” he said. He further noted that the Prime Minister has formed a committee to hold talks with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to maintain coalition stability.
Criticism of PTI and Imran Khan
Speaking about PTI founder Imran Khan, Rana Sanaullah’s statement accused him of spreading propaganda against the military. He dismissed claims that Khan was writing letters, calling it a tactic to damage the army’s reputation. “This is nothing but propaganda. He is trying to defame the army, but it won’t create a divide between the public and the military,” Sanaullah warned.
He further criticized Imran Khan, stating, “What he is doing is a national-level crime. The PTI’s claims of direct contact with the establishment are completely false. The establishment has never reached out to PTI.”
PTI’s Political Future
Discussing PTI’s political future, Rana Sanaullah’s statement advised the party to engage in direct political dialogue instead of seeking support from the establishment. “The only way forward for PTI is through discussions with political parties and forming alliances,” he asserted.
He criticized PTI’s current political strategy, stating, “The party has forced itself into isolation. If others want to experiment with this approach, they are free to do so.”
