Fast bowler Razaullah, playing his first Test match in Birmingham, produced a stunning batting performance that rescued Pakistan from an innings defeat while etching his name into several record books. Coming in to bat at number nine during Pakistan’s second innings against England, he smashed 81 runs off just 63 balls, helping his side build a 130-run lead.
A Debut Innings Full of Records
During his knock, Razanullah struck nine sixes, matching the world record for the most sixes hit by a player on Test debut. Fellow pace bowler Mohammad Abbas chipped in with two sixes of his own during his 42-run innings, contributing to a remarkable overall tally.
In fact, this marked the first time in Test cricket history that batters coming in at positions nine through eleven combined to hit ten sixes off fast bowlers in a single innings. Razanullah reached his half-century in just 43 balls, making him the fastest Pakistani batter to score a fifty on Test debut, surpassing Faheem Ashraf’s previous mark of a 52-ball fifty set back in 2018.
He also became the first Pakistani batter in 15 years to hit eight sixes off fast bowlers in a single innings, a feat no other Pakistani player had managed against pace bowling in that span. Across both innings of the Birmingham Test, Razaullah scored 11 runs in the first innings and 81 in the second, making him the highest run-scorer by a Pakistani player on debut against England.
Pakistan’s second innings ultimately ended at 449 runs, setting England a target of 130 runs to win the match. With this result pending, the home side already holds a decisive 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series.
