ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Law and Justice on Friday has said that trial of the remaining references filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Sharif family would take place in Adiala Jail.
The notification read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (b) of section 16 of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999 (XVIII of 1999), the federal government is please to specify the Central Jail Adiala, Rawalpindi, to be the place where the Accountability Court-I, Islamabad shall sit for trial of References No. 18/2017 and 19/2017 against Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and others”.
After the court’s verdict in Avenfield reference against the Sharif family, the remaining cases pertain to the Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Establishment, and offshore companies, including Flagship Investment Limited.
It is worth mentioning that on July 6, accountability court sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 10 years prison terms, his daughter Maryam Nawaz to seven years while his son-in-law Captain (retd) Mohammad Safdar to one year in the Avenfield properties reference.
The court also imposed heavy fines on the three.
Meanwhile; Nawaz’s sons, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz were declared ‘proclaimed offenders’ in the case.
